Being clear with yourself about what it is you do and who exactly you serve is HUGELY important in launching your practice.
Below are some quick questions that are invaluable in this quest for a streamlined niche:
What type sessions I have left ended feeling energized after? And drained?
What is the information I have sought after on my own free time?
What trainings did I choose for myself?
What populations do I have experience serving?
What kinds of communities do I have connections with?
Sometimes we can have the “kitchen sink” mentality because of a misconception we might have about casting a large net. This can actually be confusing to potential referral sources. Again, may seem counter-productive to pause and counter-intuitive to not just jump right in, BUT doing this reflecting now will help your practice long term.
So, again if the answer is still “no” and you are struggling to find your niche, pause and think about any anxieties getting in the way. Get clear with who you are and who you serve!! Saying you work with “everyone” is not the best tactic for getting more clients!
